The need for good caregivers is growing and more and more people see career opportunities in the profession precisely because of the increase in the elderly population.

As a caregiver, you will be able to care for people with disabilities, the sick, people who are no longer able to look after themselves, usually older people. Your responsibilities while working with them will consist of helping patients with bathing and eating, cleaning their homes, shopping and paying bills, monitoring vital signs and administering medication. It may sound simple, but as a professional health care provider, you will be greatly appreciated and trusted by those in need.

You can enrol if you have successfully completed:
primary education or
lower vocational education or equivalent education under the previous regulations.
What do you need to enrol?
To enrol you need:
a photo ID and proof of change of surname if different from the one on your certificates (e.g. marriage certificate),
authentic evidence of previous schooling (primary school leaving certificate, secondary school certificates by year, evidence of retraining, differential examinations, diplomas, certificates, etc.),
a 3 x 3.5 cm picture of yourself.
You can register at the Sofizo Educational Centre throughout the year. The registration fee and the first instalment of the tuition fee must be paid at the time of enrolment.

Course book
The Nurse Practitioner programme includes subjects of a general educational nature, as well as all the necessary knowledge that nurse practitioners need to work successfully in their work environment. Professional modules are divided into compulsory and optional parts. How much of the course you will have to do in order to successfully complete the programme will be determined already at the first meeting. When registering, we will talk with you about your expectations, interests and wishes. Based on the interview, we will then design your personal education plan. If you already have some knowledge and have mastered certain skills in relation to the educational programme, you will not even have to fulfill all the obligations as we will acknowledge some of them in advance based on the relevant evidence submitted.
On this basis, we then work together to design a learning path that is tailored to you:
how and to what extent the courses are delivered according to the programme,
the timetabling of school commitments.
As each student receives individual attention, it is possible to adapt their personal education plan.

Open curriculum
The Open Curriculum will provide you with specific expertise related to the life world of an older person, which will give you a competitive edge in the labour market.
Practical training with your employer
at the Fužine Senior Citizens’ Home and the Centre Senior Citizens’ Home, Tabor.
The training concludes with a final examination, consisting of:
- written and oral examinations in Slovene
- a service and defence.
General education courses will be taught at the Maks Pečar Primary School in Črnuče, at a location next to the LPP terminus number 6, but the school also offers parking.
Professional modules or practical classes will be held at the Fužine Senior Citizens’ Home, Nove Fužine 40, in Ljubljana.
Tuition
Individual tuition fee calculation
Depending on how many exams you need to complete before becoming a nurse practitioner, we will calculate your tuition individually. The price of a professional course in each year is € 167, and the price of a general education course is € 51.
As part of the tuition fee, we offer:
- lectures in 12 subjects per year,
- borrowing, or buying at a nominal price, special textbooks for adults,
- consultations 1 time per month during the period of the course lectures,
- group and individual counselling and support, information on the optimal path to reach the goal,
- unlimited number of examinations during the duration of the contract.
The tuition fee is paid in addition to the registration fee of € 150 and the vocational baccalaureate fee of € 195.
Payment of tuition fees
Tuition fees can be paid by instalments. Instalments can be monthly, half-yearly or yearly. If you run into financial difficulties, you can arrange to change your payment method and continue your studies uninterrupted.
Lower tuition fees with knowledge
Attention! The more knowledge you bring with you, the lower the tuition fee.
We recognise the knowledge you have gained from your previous education or work and enter it in your programme as exams you have passed. They are determined on the basis of an initial interview with the student and the relevant documentation (certificates and supporting documents).
